The OK Factor’s educational outreach is a mix of what inspires them most: exciting string techniques, fun folk tunes, original music, and the stories from their experiences as musicians. They are passionate about creating an experience that will inspire and encourage students and communities to explore music - to cultivate a curiosity about its role in their lives.

Workshops contain:

  • Student-led instrumental storytelling
  • Games/exercises dealing with rhythm
  • Instrumental and arrangement techniques
  • Large group arrangements of various folk tunes

The OK Factor is equally passionate about reaching community members of all backgrounds and ages, not just students. Through senior education programs and open jam sessions, Olivia and Karla are committed to sharing their music with the broader community, and meeting them where they're at.

From 2011-2013, The OK Factor was part of a student-led crossover string group, Strangz, at Luther College. Strangz's arrangements were all original and done completely by ear. Here is the group's award-winning arrangement of Maroon 5's 'Payphone' and Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Call me Maybe'.

Dorian Orchestra Festival, Luther College, 2014

The OK Factor hosted a workshop with middle and high school students, focusing on new ideas and techniques that they could implement into their playing. The last portion of the workshop featured the duo's orchestral arrangement of their original tune, 'Billy C. and the Second Law of Thermodynamics'.
